You might mistakenly befriend an individual with dishonorable intentions. With the clutter of applications, friend requests, photo requests, and more, it is becoming harder and harder for people to trust what is real and what could potentially be a scam or even a virus.
Sure there are security precautions to keep people with bad intentions at bay, but they are find ways to get around them every day.
The other thing is Addiction!! We could see many of our friends wasting much of their time on these sites, even we could hear them discussing about their profiles and stints on these sites all the time.
Also, there had been a case of suicide following rejection in relationship publicized on facebook doing rounds in the news recently.
So I feel, it is more of a bane than boon.
